Terms of service

effective 19 June 2026

Short version: unspook is a free job-listing site built by one person. You can use it for your own job search. You can't copy it wholesale, resell it, or abuse it. We don't guarantee any particular posting is real, fillable, or current, even though that's the whole point of the score. If you break the rules, we may close your account.

1. Who you're agreeing with

These terms are an agreement between you and Sam Vanspauwen, a private individual based in København, Denmark, who operates the website at unspook.com. Business registration with the Danish CVR register is pending; if you need a formal point of contact in writing, email sam@unspook.com.

By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

2. What unspook is

unspook is a job aggregator. We collect postings from a curated list of company career sites, run them through automated tools to extract structured fields (salary, location, skills, etc.), and score each posting on signals that correlate with whether the role is real and fillable. We then show the result as a list, with the most credible postings on top and likely-ghost postings flagged and pushed down.

Currently the service is free of charge and offered as a personal project. With an account you can save jobs, track your applications (status, interviews, offers, salary, and notes you choose to record), add your own jobs that aren't on the site, save a search so the Updates tab surfaces new matches, and send feedback or suggest companies for us to add. We reserve the right to introduce paid features in the future; if we do, this page will be updated and existing accounts will be notified before they are charged anything.

3. Your account

To save jobs you need an account. Signup is currently invite-only: you need a valid invite, which you can request by joining the waitlist. You agree to:

  • Provide a real email address you actually control.
  • Keep your password secret and not share your account.
  • Be at least 16 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country of residence.
  • Notify us if you think someone else has accessed your account.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete my account. This removes your data from our live systems immediately and cannot be undone. If you'd rather we do it for you, email sam@unspook.com.

4. Acceptable use

unspook exists for one person at a time using it for their own job search. You agree not to:

  • Crawl, copy, or otherwise automatically extract listings from the site, or use it to build a competing dataset. The data on unspook is itself collected from public sources; if you want the same data, you can gather it from those sources directly.
  • Resell or redistribute unspook data, in whole or in part, to third parties without written permission.
  • Use the site to harass, defame, or impersonate anyone, including named individuals who may incidentally appear in postings.
  • Attempt to break, probe, or bypass the site's security, including authentication, rate limits, or access controls.
  • Use the site or any of our infrastructure to send spam, malware, or unlawful content.
  • Submit false reports of ghost postings, fake feedback, or other deliberately misleading information designed to manipulate the score.

We may suspend or close any account that breaks these rules. If the breach is technical (a misconfigured crawler, for example) and you reach out in good faith, we will tell you what stopped and what would let it work again.

5. About the jobs on this site

Every posting on unspook is collected from the company's own public career page. We don't accept paid promotion. We don't accept submissions from recruiters or third parties. The intent is that every job links back to its real source.

That said: the source data is not under our control. Companies leave stale postings up. Some postings are filled before they are removed. Some are reposts of the same role under a new requisition number. Even with the unspook score, you should treat any single posting as a hypothesis to check, not a fact. We provide a tool to cut through the noise, not a guarantee about any individual role.

In particular, we do not guarantee:

  • That a posting is currently being actively recruited for.
  • That the salary range shown reflects what the company will pay.
  • That the requirements listed are exhaustive or accurate.
  • That applying through us, rather than direct, helps your chances.

If you spot a posting that's obviously fake or stale, report it and we will investigate.

6. Intellectual property

The unspook name, wordmark, page designs, score model, and the original commentary attached to postings are ours. You can link to unspook freely and quote short passages with attribution; you cannot reproduce the site or substantial parts of it without permission.

Job descriptions and company information are not ours; they belong to the originating company. We display them under what we believe to be permitted use for the purposes of a job search engine. If you are an employer and want a posting removed from unspook, email sam@unspook.com and we will action it promptly.

7. Third-party links

Every job on unspook links to the originating company's career page. Once you click out, you are on that company's website under their terms and their privacy policy. We can't be responsible for what they do with your data, whether their application form works, or whether they reply to you.

8. Service availability

We try to keep unspook running, but it's a small project with a single operator. There is no service-level guarantee. The site may be unavailable for maintenance, upgrades, or infrastructure failure outside our control. We will not be liable for any loss resulting from the site being unavailable.

9. Changes to the service

We may add features, change features, or remove features at any time. If a change materially reduces what you get from the site (for example, removing data export), we will give existing users reasonable notice and a path to extract their data.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when we change what the service does, what we charge for it, or who we work with to deliver it. Updated terms take effect on the date shown at the top of the page. If a change materially affects your rights, we will email active accounts before it takes effect.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

unspook is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of any information displayed. The score is an editorial signal, not financial, legal, or career advice.

Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude or limit any rights you have as a consumer under Danish law that cannot be excluded or limited by contract.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, neither Sam Vanspauwen nor anyone helping operate unspook will be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost income, lost job opportunities, or lost data, arising out of or in connection with your use of the site.

Our total cumulative liability to you for any direct damages will not exceed €100 or the amount you have paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim, whichever is greater. Since the service is currently free, this clause is here mostly to be honest about what you can expect if something does go wrong: we are not in a position to make you whole on the scale of a missed job offer.

13. Termination

You may stop using unspook at any time by closing your account. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service entirely. If we discontinue the service we will give existing accounts reasonable notice and a way to export their saved jobs.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Denmark, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that can't be resolved by talking it over will be settled by the competent Danish courts.

If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, this does not deprive you of the protection afforded by mandatory provisions of the law of the country in which you live.
